Wayne Goss - Makeup artist, YouTube Guru and all round lovely bloke

We’ve been speaking to the lovely Wayne Goss who is a make up artist and also a YouTube Guru with over 12000 followers. He does reviews and demonstrations of makeup for men and women and he’s just done a quick review of some of our astonmitchell products. He’s on the front page of our website with the video now. www.astonmitchell.co.uk.

Check out Wayne’s youtube channel (search for gossmakeupartist). A lot of the videos are about women’s makeup but he does some really good demonstrations about how to tackle things like eye bags, how to use concealer properly, and loads more. Definitely worth watching and trying out the techniques for yourself.

Phew it’s hot hot hot

We love the sun at astonmitchell. It puts everyone in a cheery mood, we get to sit outside with our laptops and we drink lots of orange squash – something we only do when it’s sunny.

We’ve seen lots of sunburn around though and it makes us wince! It makes me want to don a backpack full of sunblock, like they do on the beaches in Australia, and squirt anyone turning pink. We’re fans of fake tan – much safer, better for your skin, doesn’t age you…. Anyway, that’s our soapbox rant over.

Lots going on at astonmitchell HQ – we’re doing a deal with a great Canadian skincare company who have some really good quality products which aren’t available anywhere in the UK yet. We’re also still looking at producing our own astonmitchell makeup range and we’re generally just very busy.

We never know when there will be something on TV which will get you all desperate for concealer or guyliner – but we know it’s happened because we get swamped, like we did last week! Not that we’re complaining, we’re just glad that you all want to look your best!

astonmitchell on Scott Mills!

Just a quick post to let you know that our astonmitchell team is off to the Radio One studios this Thursday, 7th May to makeover Scott Mills live on his webcam. It’s part of the Beccycam feature running this week and we’ll be using our full range of men’s makeup products on our DJ model! Tune in to Radio One Drivetime with Scott Mills this Thursday and check out the webcam to see us in action!

This is all part of our national campaign to spread the word that make up for men is not only perfectly normal, it’s also a great idea! Why not make the most of what you’ve got? We want to educate the nation and make men’s makeup a real talking point, for all the right reasons.

What a great week we’ve had. Apart from having a lovely weekend off over Easter and eating lots of chocolate (which we’ll no doubt pay for soon with spotty skin and lethargy…) we’ve been speaking to the lovely Steve Miller, Business & Confidence Coach, GMTV regular, newspaper columnist and all round good guy. Steve has a new book coming out on June 11th called Change Your Life – Grab that Job, and is looking for men who have worn make up for interviews and believe it helped them get the job or a promotion. 6 degrees of separation

Just been speaking to Michele Probst, founder and CEO of Menaji and one of our fabulous suppliers. We love her product range -it’s top quality and does exactly what it’s supposed to. It looks natural and contains no nasties. Michele is a lovely lady, very savvy, and very modest. She’s one of the US President’s make-up artists but she doesn’t shout about it. So if she knows President Obama and I know Michele, that means that I’m 2 degrees of separation away from him, or something like that. It’s a small world.

The astonmitchell Blog has arrived

Wow, what an amazing couple of years it’s been. We’ve just been taking a look back at the whirlwind which has been astonmitchell since we set it up. We’ve had a few headaches, loads of laughs, some really heartwarming moments and generally just loved what we do. We set up www.astonmitchell.com because we thought that there might be a gap in the market for men’s make-up, judging by how many guys have to borrow concealer to hide spots or eye bags. We spent ages researching suppliers and came up with our shortlist of great products. Then we set up the website and started selling – and boy, is it selling! Guys obviously just want to get their own products, which are designed for them. We know for a fact that there are some guys out there whose confidence has been boosted with our help and that has got to be good. Workload permitting, we’ll be telling you our woes, the highs and lows, and hopefully giving you a small insight into life at astonmitchell.
